Postpone razing of structures in SGNP: Ex-MP | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Former BJP MP from North Mumbai, Gopal Shetty, has appealed to state forest minister Ganesh Naik to postpone the demolition drive at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park . In a letter to Naik, Shetty stated that, as per the 1998 Supreme Court order, all commercial establishments such as were already demolished.
Shetty alleged that notices for demolition were issued to commercial and industrial establishments that existed prior to 1995. “The Bombay high court, in both its orders (1997 and 2025), protected structures that existed prior to 1995. Yet, under the guise of the above-mentioned orders, the forest officer, merely to create an impression that they are acting in accordance with the directions of the high court, began to act in violation of these very orders,” said Shetty. tnn
