MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Postal Circle on Monday released a special ‘cancellation’ to celebrate Indian cricket’s historic victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The cancellation is available at Mumbai GPO.
Amitabh Singh, postmaster general (mails and business development), released the cancellation at GPO in the presence of Kishan Kumar Sharma, chief postmaster general and senior dept officials from Mumbai GPO and Mumbai Region.
A press release issued Monday said, “The Department of Posts has a tradition of commemorating significant national events through philatelic tributes in order to preserve and celebrate India’s cultural and sporting achievements. This special cancellation is a testament to the nation’s prowess on the global cricketing stage and reflects the postal department’s dedication to promoting national pride through philately.”
Releasing the memento, Amitabh Singh said, “We are delighted to mark India’s triumph in the World Cup with this special cancellation. This initiative not only celebrates our cricket team’s outstanding performance but also highlights the Department of Posts’ role in commemorating such momentous occasions.”
