Poll Booth: Man kills wife near poll booth in Bhadrak | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: A woman (28), who was on her way to cast her vote in Bhadrak district, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband near a polling booth on Saturday. Police attributed the motive of the murder to marital discord, ruling out any political link with her death.
The deceased was identified as Rashmirekha Behera of Jaragambhira village under Bhadrak Rural police station.Police arrested her husband, Prabhakar Rout (36) of Muktadihi village in Bhadrak.
“The incident occurred near a booth contrary to rumours that she was murdered inside the booth. The couple used to fight over their marital problems,” IGP (eastern range) Deepak Kumar told TOI. Police sources said the couple had been staying separately for the last few months. On Saturday, the victim was walking towards her nearby polling booth when Rout waylaid her.
An altercation ensued between them following which Rout allegedly stabbed her multiple times and escaped. Though some locals rushed her to a nearby hospital, she was declared brought-dead, police sources said. Rout was later nabbed by cops.
