Political Parties Ramp Up Digital Campaigns | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: With last phase of Lok Sabha elections less than a week away, political parties have intensified physical as well as digital campaigning. Those deputed in the “war rooms” of political parties are busy sending campaign messages and creating trends in favour of the party with an eye on cross sections of people in the society, while pushing the fence-sitters to vote on June 1.
Through the campaigns, surveys, group discussions and sample public opinions, the social media groups of the parties decide whom to target and what to put out.
Saurabh Sinha, chairman of social media unit of Bihar Congress, said 5,400 WhatsApp groups have been created by the techies and workers sending bulk messages to more than 12 lakh people on an average. “Apart from this, a team of 150 people are working in each constituency where our candidates are in fray,” he said.
“The main job of this group is to make people aware about the policies and agendas of the party and highlight its five ‘nyay’ guarantees for the youth, women, workers, farmers and the marginalized sections. We also have broadcast groups in each constituency to send text messages to voters. Various social media platforms are being used to reach out to the youngsters. We upload videos of our netas, urging people to exercise their franchise,” Sinha said.
JD(U) has around 5,000 WhatsApp groups, and a team of 75 people at state level, including social media experts, content developers and political analysts.
Incharge of social media group of JD(U), Maneesh Kumar, said the team members hired techies and people to work at ground level for maximum coverage. “The team members create videos of beneficiaries of polices and schemes launched by CM Nitish Kumar and these contents are being uploaded to social media platforms,” he said.
Anmol Sovit, state convener of social media group of BJP, said, “We have a team of 35 people at head office, 13 people at district-level and seven people at block level. Overall, we have 1,136 teams across the state. They work without any remuneration,” he said.
He added, “Shakti kendras have been opened at panchayat level to reach out to voters. All these teams handle social media and try to reach out to as many voters as they can. They share live and old videos of PM Narendra Modi and other big netas. Party manifestos and advertisements are also being shared on social sites.”
The team of over 100 people in RJD’s digital war room creates content and upload the same to social platforms. The IT cell team, party functionaries, workers and MLAs have created thousands of WhatsApp groups at state, district, block and panchayat levels to reach out to maximum number of voters before the final phase of polls.
