In Patna, police deployed water cannons to break up a Youth Congress protest against rising prices, crime, and unemployment
NEW DELHI: Police resorted to cane charge and used water cannons during a protest demonstration by the Bihar unit of the Youth Congress outside the legislative council in Patna on Wednesday.
The workers held a protest demonstration demanding action from chief minister Nitish Kumar over issues including rising prices, rampant crime, and unemployment in the state.
According to SDM Patna Shrikant Khandekar, the protest was held without permission from the administration and escalated when demonstrators broke barricades and attacked police personnel with lathis.Several officers were injured in the clash, he said.
The police have made several arrests and are continuing to monitor the situation.
