Police: Police recreate crime scene in woman’s murder | Bhubaneswar News
Sambalpur: Police on Thursday brought Hari Behera (28) to the spot where the 25-year-old woman was murdered to help recreate the crime scene.
While the woman was killed on August 30, her body was found naked two days later and the accused was arrested and forwarded to court the same day. On Thursday morning, Behera was brought on a two-day remand by Rairakhol police and taken to the village pond where she was murdered.The scene was recreated in the presence of ASP Albinus Kerketta, Rairakhol SDPO Prasanta Kumar Meher, Rairakhol IIC Sabita Lata Sethi and tehsildar Amar Dungdung. Villagers had also turned up to witness the investigation. Two platoons of police were deployed at the spot to manage the crowd.
Kerketta said, “The accused has been brought on remand for further investigation into the case. During scene recreation, certain evidences were collected from the spot of murder as well as the forest where he had dumped the body. Some evidences were also collected from the house of the accused. However, no evidence has led to the establishment of rape allegation yet.” Sources in Vimsar, where the woman’s postmortem was done, said she died of drowning.
