Upgrade plan for 800 schools under PM SHRI

Bhubaneswar: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Union ministry of education, department of school education and literacy and school and mass education department to develop around 800 schools in the state under PM SHRI (Schools for Rising India) scheme. The MoU was signed in the presence of minister of state for education Jayant Chaudhuri and school and mass education secretary, Aswathy S.
PM SHRI scheme aims to ensure the schools serve as model institutions and encapsulate the spirit of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. Two schools in each block and urban areas will be developed into PM SHRI schools, sources said.
PM SHRI schools will provide comprehensive and inclusive education to students in stimulating environment with quality education. Under the scheme, infrastructure of the schools will be improved with emphasis on innovation-based advanced IT, smart classrooms, digital library, digital learning tools and sports facilities.
Schools will not only emphasise on imparting education but will help in creating a holistic person with key skills of the 21st century. The schools will reflect curriculum and teaching methods recommended by NEP-2020 and enhance the skills of teachers.
