PM Narendra Modi likely to hold roadshow at Puri on May 20

BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Odisha again on May 20, which coincides with the second phase of polling in five Lok Sabha and 35 assembly seats in Odisha. This will be Modi’s third visit to the state in a span of two weeks.
“Modi-Ji will hold a roadshow in Puri in the morning on May 20. Later that day, he will address two rallies in Cuttack and Angul,” said BJP state vice-president Golak Mohapatra.Puri will go to polls in the third phase in the state on May 25.
Ahead of the first phase of polls, Modi addressed two election rallies in Berhampur and Nabarangpur on May 6. Four days later, he again came to Odisha on a two-day tour, holding a massive roadshow in Bhubaneswar on May 10 and addressing rallies at Kandhamal, Balangir and Bargarh the next day.
In his previous two visits, Modi said BJD’s expiry date was set on June 4 and an Odia chief minister from BJP will take oath in the state on June 10. He even challenged chief minister Naveen Patnaik to name the districts of Odisha without reading any paper. Naveen retorted by saying that the BJP was daydreaming and added that BJP could never win hearts of the people of Odisha even in next 10 years.
Besides the PM, Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address mega rallies in Rourkela, Surada and Kantabanji on May 15. BJP national president J P Nadda is likely to campaign in Padampur, Sundargarh and Hinjili on May 17. These six places are part of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Balangir and Aska Lok Sabha seats and they will go to polls on May 20, along with Kandhamal.
Congress sources said Rahul Gandhi, who had addressed a gathering at Salipur in Cuttack district on April 28, is likely to visit Odisha on May 15 to attend an election rally in Balangir. None of the top central leaders of the grand old party campaigned in the four Lok Sabha seats — Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput — where voting will be held on Monday.
