Plastic surgery on 8-yr-old boy after dog bite | Mumbai News – Times of India
Vasai: A family from Mira Road has had to spend at least Rs 1 lakh so far on the medical treatment of their 8-year-old son who was bitten on the face by a stray dog. So far, there has be no assurance from Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation that the dog will be taken away or something done about the issue. The family has been demanding “removal” of the dog from the society premises, claiming that it has bitten three other children.
The child, Darsh Rawat, was bitten by the dog on Monday around 9 pm while he and his friends were playing with a ball. A profusely bleeding Darsh was then taken to the hospital for treatment and was discharged on Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was taken to hospital where doctors said plastic surgery would be required as the bite had pierced through the right side of the nose, said the boy’s father, Manmohan.
The father said they have so far shelled out a lakh on medical expenses so far. “Four vaccines are still pending which will take the expense to another 20 thousand at least,” he said.
He said that the dog had bitten another child in 2022, tearing into the head and skin below the eyes.
He said they had approached Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation. “But we never got any satisfactory reply,” the father said, expressing hope of a meeting.
A neighbour of the boy’s family, Vivek Mehra, claimed that local authorities had tried calling the municipal commissioner of Mira-Bhayander, but a meeting was refused.
The father claimed that local shopkeepers or food delivery staffers tend stay away from the wing of the society, as “this dog gets aggressive with them”. The dog, he said, has been on the premises since birth besides two other stray canines.
