Plan to intensify crack down on illegal liquor ops: Min | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Excise minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Tuesday that the state govt will implement stricter measures against illegal liquor operations through upcoming changes in the excise policy.
During a review meeting with district excise superintendents, Harichandan emphasised the need for enhanced enforcement capabilities. “While we successfully curbed numerous illegal operations, our efforts will intensify in the coming days,” the minister said.
The high-level meeting covered various aspects of excise operations, including district-wise enforcement activities, revenue collection and the monitoring of mahua flower sales. Officials also discussed the current status of country liquor production and seized vehicles.
Addressing departmental reforms, the minister outlined plans to fill vacant positions and implement regular training programmes for officers and employees. The meeting also focused on infrastructure development, including the construction of staff quarters and the status of depots across districts.
“Our goal is to elevate the state’s reputation through improved enforcement and professional excellence,” added Harichandan, highlighting the govt’s commitment to strengthening the excise department.
