Patna zoo gears up for New Year rush, hikes entry fee – Times of India
Patna: Anticipating a huge footfall on New Year’s eve and on January 1, the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, also known as Patna zoo, has made elaborate arrangements for the visitors. Additional ticket counters have been set up at both gates to avoid long queues.
Arvind Kumar, range officer of Patna zoo, said this time around 30,000 to 35,000 people are expected to visit the zoo on the New Year. “We have made preparations in advance to manage the crowd. The number of ticket counters will be increased. There are four counters at gate number 1; this will be increased to 10. At the same time, there are currently two counters at gate number 2. This will be increased to six,” he said.
People visiting the zoo on the New Year will have to spend extra money on tickets. The rates will be increased on New Year’s day compared to normal days. On normal days, it costs Rs 30 per person. But, on January 1, it will cost Rs 100 for adults and 50 for children above the age of five years.
Patna zoo will deploy security personnel to control the crowd. “Keeping in mind the safety of the people, a letter has also been written to the district medical officer requesting him to deploy an ambulance and a team of doctors. The district administration will deploy magistrates and police force at both the gates of the zoo,” the official said.
If tourists face any kind of inconvenience, they can contact the medical team. Along with this, a helpline number will also be issued.
Additionally, help desks are being set up at various locations on the zoo premises, so that if any visitor faces any kind of inconvenience, they can contact them immediately. For the convenience of the visitors, a control room has also been set up.
This time, many new things will be the centre of attraction, including a water park and a small cat enclosure. Leopard cats, fishing cats, along with other types of cats, are present in the small cat enclosure. At the same time, 13 different types of waterfalls have been installed in the water park. Along with this, a zebra that arrived at the zoo from Mysore under the animal exchange programme.
