CJ of Patna HC hails new criminal laws

Patna: Patna high court chief justice K Vinod Chandran on Saturday endorsed the new criminal lawsBharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — that replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code and Indian Evidence Act.
Speaking at a two-day workshop organised by the state home department, Chandran praised the laws for being citizen-centric and technology-based, suitable for modern times.
He said the new framework solves cases from a scientific perspective and emphasizes special provisions for women and children, with 37 sections dedicated to addressing crimes against them.
DGP RS Bhati said CCTNS network and ICJS system will be fully implemented. Senior officials, including development commissioner Chaitanya Prasad and principal secretary of home department Arvind Kumar, attended the workshop.
Justice Joymalya Bagchi, senior advocate BG Harindranath and other experts spoke on the new laws.
