Patna DM Urges Officials to Tackle Chikungunya and Dengue | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Patna district magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh on Sunday asked the officials concerned to implement preventive measures against dengue, including comprehensive fogging and temephos spraying. He also asked the officials to keep rapid response teams on alert at all health centres to handle emergencies.
“Every primary, community health centre, and referral hospital, along with urban primary health centres, should have active rapid response teams ready to address any situation,” Singh said.“Fogging and anti-larva spraying must be thorough in both urban and rural areas. Each house should be surveyed, focusing on source reduction and raising awareness about the disease,” he added, stressing the need for civic bodies to prevent waterlogging.
Singh advised the public not to be swayed by misinformation or to assume every fever is dengue. He encouraged residents to visit govt hospitals for free dengue tests and treatment and to confirm positive results from rapid diagnostic kits with govt facilities. He also mandated the availability of rapid test kits via the patient welfare committee in each block.
Govt hospitals in city offering free dengue test and treatment include Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences in Agamkuan.
The DM highlighted the need for team spirit, inter-departmental coordination, and public involvement in controlling dengue. “Dengue control standards should be enforced in colleges and universities, with health advisories issued to prevent its spread among students,” he said.
July is being observed as ‘Anti-Dengue’ month, aiming to spread public awareness through information, education, and communication (IEC) and behaviour change and communication (BCC) campaigns.
Singh also asked the officials to widely publicize the ‘dos and don’ts’ related to dengue prevention.
