Patna admin for slapping murder charges over official’s death during chaos at BPSC exam centre | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The Patna district administration on Sunday recommended slapping of murder charges on those who had tried to disrupt the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Combined Preliminary Examinations on Dec 13, during which an official on duty died of heart attack.
The recommendation was made in a report submitted by the district magistrate to the BPSC, copies of which were made available to the media.
The report of an inquiry by a deputy collector-rank officer speaks of “anti-social elements posing as examinees… hell-bent upon causing some type of disruption which could lead to cancellation of the test”.
The administration released CCTV footage showing the commotion caused by candidates at the Bapu Examination Centre during the exam. The administration said question papers were delayed in some rooms of the centre, which led to the disturbance. Two FIRs were filed against 200 people for causing a commotion inside and outside the exam centre.
“A conspiracy was planned by some disruptive elements to cancel the BPSC exam by disturbing the arrangements at the Bapu Examination Centre. However, timely action thwarted the attempt. Two FIRs were filed against this act and two teams were formed to identify and arrest the conspirators. Strict action will be taken against the candidates identified in the video who disrupted the examination process,” Patna district magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh said.
The first FIR was lodged against 50 people who caused a disturbance outside the premises while the second FIR is against 150 people who created chaos inside the centre, looted exam materials and disrupted the exam process.
“The CCTV footage revealed that 10-12 miscreants led the entire incident and attempted to disrupt the exam. These people are being identified and legal action is being taken against them,” the DM said. He also clarified that each exam hall was arranged for 273 candidates and each box contained 192 question papers.
“The investigation report of the district administration revealed that some anti-social elements participated in the exam as candidates. A group of them was also present outside the examination hall, ready to create a disturbance. Some candidates surrounded the centre superintendent, pressuring him to announce the cancellation of the exam, but this was not done,” the DM said.
