Pass percentage in adi dravidar schools up from 84% to 96%

Chennai: Persistent efforts by DMK govt in improving the education of adi dravidar and tribal welfare students in the last four years paid off as their pass percentage increased by around 15%.While the pass percentage of plus two students increased from 84% in 2021 to 96% in 2024, the pass percentage of SSLC students increased from 78% in 2021 to 92% in 2024, said an official statement on Wednesday.”Chief minister M K Stalin paid special attention to the educational development of SC/ST students ever since he assumed office. In 154 adi dravidar schools, 480 new classrooms and 15 science laboratories were constructed at the cost of 108.5 crore. Apart from that, in 107 adi dravidar and tribal welfare schools, 256 classrooms, 42 toilets, and science laboratories in 21 high schools and 65 higher secondary schools are under construction at a cost of 125 crore,” the govt said.Citing the success of two tribal students L Suganya and R Rohini, who studied in a govt tribal school in Salem district and cleared JEE to get selected into NIT, state govt said this was the first time in 60 years that tribal students cleared JEE in TN due to the Naan Mudhalvan scheme.
