Pappu extends support to Bharti ahead of bypoll | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: Independent MP from Purnia Lok Sabha seat, Pappu Yadav, on Monday extended his support to Bima Bharti, RJD candiate for the bypoll in the Rupauli assembly constituency.
She had unsuccessfully contested against Yadav in the recently concluded parliamentary elections. The two other candidates in the fray are Kaladhar Mandal from the JD(U) and former MLA Shankar Singh, who is contesting as an Independent.Earlier, Singh was in the LJP (RV) led by Union minister Chirag Paswan.
On Sunday, Bharti had presented a bouquet to Yadav at Purnia and he formally solicited his support to her. Later, Yadav told mediapersons that he would hold discussions with the Congress brass, workers and supporters at night, and then make the formal announcement.
On Monday, while on way to Delhi, he told a select group of mediapersons that there were two main contenders for the Rupauli assembly seat in the by-election — one from the NDA side and another from the INDIA bloc camp.
“I appeal to all to vote for the INDIA bloc candidate as this is necessary because INDIA bloc has to win the four other assembly constituencies where by-polls are due in the next six or eight months, as the victory in these will set the trend for the government formation by the bloc partners in the state in 2025,” Yadav said.
