Panel on SGNP rehab in no devpt zone | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The state govt has appointed a three-member committee to submit a report on the feasibility of amending the policy and regulations on construction in the No Development Zone (NDZ).
The committee, headed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Dept ACS UDD-1, along with the housing secretary and BMC commissioner as members, will submit its report within three months. This is for the relocation and rehabilitation of encroachers on forest land at SGNP. Currently, the Bombay High Court is hearing a PIL filed by NGO Conservation Action Trust for the relocation of slum dwellers from the national park. The order for relocation and rehabilitation was passed in 1997. The govt extended the date for slum rehabilitation, and in 2018, it was proposed to relocate all slum dwellers up to January 1, 2011.
