Over 60,000 Teachers Apply for Transfers Under Bihar’s New Policy | – Times of India


Patna: Following the formulation of the teachers’ transfer policy in Bihar, 60,205 schoolteachers have applied online for their transfer from one school to another, citing various reasons.
According to the official data posted by chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Tuesday, the majority of teachers (50,293) sought their transfer due to the distance from their current posting to the desired location. Meanwhile, 5,500 teachers requested a transfer based on their spouse’s posting.
A total of 2,454 teachers applied for a transfer due to being specially abled, and 481 sought a transfer on the grounds of autism and mental special needs. Other teachers who applied for a transfer include 790 suffering from critical illnesses, 271 with incurable diseases such as different types of cancer and 416 who are widowed or divorced.
The state govt introduced a new transfer policy for schoolteachers, from the primary to higher secondary stage, under which willing teachers are supposed to apply online under five specified criteria. This new policy for transfer applies to teachers facing specific challenges or special problems like health-related issues, family emergencies, personal challenges, or other exceptional challenges.
The education department’s additional chief secretary, S Siddharth, said teachers need not worry about their transfer, as all the needy teachers would be transferred to their desired places soon.
