Outsourcing Employees: Outsourcing employees association demands regularisation of jobs |

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government Outsourcing Employees Association on Tuesday demanded regularisation of their employment and extension of benefits provided to other govt employees.
Pravat Mohanty, the chairman of the association during a press conference, said, “We have been deprived of fundamental benefits for an extended period, despite our diligent efforts in the govt’s service. We have been victimised for long. During the pandemic, a multitude of outsourcing employees were dismissed from their positions, notwithstanding their exemplary performance in their respective roles.”
Mohanty added, “The previous govt had announced a notification in 2022, imposing a ban on the engagement of data entry operators, which resulted in the displacement of over 4,000 individuals from their employment.”
“Earlier, those who worked in the govt for at least 89 days were given the status of regular employment. However, the rules have been changed now for which thousands of outsourcing employees are suffering,” he said.
Sanjaya Patnaik, president of the association, said the erstwhile opposition leaders had championed their cause in the assembly on numerous occasions. “Fortunately, leaders who previously occupied the opposition benches now hold the reins of power. They possess an intimate understanding of our problems and we believe that they will take the requisite steps to regularize our employment,” he added.
