Patna: An irate mob, protesting against the murder of Chitranjan Kumar (28), a govt schoolteacher, blocked National Highway 122-B near Madudabad Chowk in Samastipur district on Wednesday.
They placed the body on the road and burnt tyres, leading to traffic jam. The protesters demanded arrest of the criminals involved in the crime. The blockade was cleared after the intervention of the local police.
Unidentified assailants had shot dead Chitranjan Kumar (28), a native of Tada village under Modinagar police station area, while he was returning home from school late in the evening on Tuesday. Police said prima facie it appears Chitranjan was killed to avenge an old enmity or in a loot bid.
“The incident occurred while Chitranjan was returning home from school on his bike late in the evening. The teacher was shot in the neck. On receiving information about the incident, the police arrived and took him to Samastipur Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. He was a class XII teacher at the govt high school, Jorpura,” said Halai SHO Brajesh Kumar.
According to police sources, Chitranjan had left the school at 4.45pm on Tuesday. As usual, he was returning home on his bike via the Noon river dam near Darba. Meanwhile, before reaching the dam, two motorcyle-borne criminals stopped him at gunpoint and shot him.
