Organ Donation: Brain-dead woman organ donation saves 4 lives in Jharsuguda | Bhubaneswar News
Jharsuguda: Providing a second chance at life for individuals in need, the family of a brain dead woman from Jharsuguda’s Panchapada donated her kidneys, liver, pancreas, lungs, heart and intestines at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. Govt authorities said the act helped save four lives.
The woman, Rashmi Prabha Patel, a 41-year-old homemaker, met with an accident near a petrol pump in Jharsuguda town on Aug 17, while returning home with her son.Rashmi is survived by her husband, Anjan Patel (50), and their son, Ankush Patel (18).
Jharsuguda police paid their respects to the deceased with a Guard of Honour near the Panchapada cremation ground, in accordance with the Odisha govt’s guidelines for organ donors, on Wednesday. “As per the Odisha govt’s guidelines, organ donors are honoured with a Guard of Honour. We hope this act will inspire others to consider organ donation,” said Jharsuguda SP Smit P Parmar.
