Opposition lashes out at PM Narendra Modi over ‘mujra’ remark | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Functionaries of the oppn INDIA bloc lashed out at PM Narendra Modi on Saturday over his “mujra” remark at an election rally at Bikram in Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency. Leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said even the PM’s supporters were not liking the kind of language he was using.
The PM had vowed to thwart alleged attempts to rob dalits and backward classes of reservations by the INDIA bloc which he accused of “enslavement” and performing “mujra” for Muslim vote bank.
RJD Rajya Sabha member Manoj Jha also criticised the PM by saying, “After machhli (fish), mutton and mangalsutra, it is now the turn of ‘mujra’. Does it behove the PM of the country to speak such language? He has torn norms of civil discourse to shred. We are worried of what the world must be thinking about the language being used by our PM.”
RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan made an appeal to the Election Commission to take note of the language being used by the PM and act accordingly.
Senior Congress functionary Pawan Khera, who was in Patna on Saturday, also criticized the PM. “Is this the type of language a Prime Minister is supposed to use? His latest mujra remark is making the nation a butt of ridicule. He has also started saying that he is not a biological human being but some divine messenger. The PM seems unaware that the world takes note of all his utterances,” said Khera.
“In any case, Modi is going to be in office for just about a week. The INDIA bloc has already crossed the majority mark in the first five phases of Lok Sabha polls. In the last two phases, the seats won by us will be a bonus,” he added.
