Opposition Criticizes Union Budget for Bihar, Calls It Repackaged Old Projects | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Opposition parties in the state gave thumbs down to the Union Budget stating that there is nothing new for Bihar, but ongoing projects have been smartly repackaged.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad took a jibe at the Union Budget in a poetic style on the social media stating that it will shatter the dreams of poor and farmers and was “like a dagger pierced in the heart of a common man”.
Lalu’s son and Bihar’s leader of opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, also came down heavily on the Centre, stating that the Budget has disappointed the people of the state. “In order to take Bihar on the path of development, a revival plan was needed and this required granting a special status and package,” posted Tejashwi on X. He further said that whatever has been given to Bihar is a routine allotment, or projects that have already been approved in the past. “Those calling it a new gift are actually insulting Bihar. In order to stop migration, remove backwardness of the state and for a better future of the youths along with industrial growth, we will not step back even an inch from our demand for special status,” he added.
RJD’s alliance Congress too criticised the Centre, stating that the latter has cheated Bihar and without allocation of funds, announcements have been made. Congress state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh said approval has been given to roads which will help in getting higher toll tax and benefit corporate houses. “Bihar has got only promises in its share in the Budget. Those projects have been counted which have been announced earlier and there is nothing which will help in stopping migration from the state. There is nothing substantial which will help in providing employment to the youths,” said Singh. He added that they were expecting more trains to be given to Bihar which could benefit the common people. “The reality is that the Modi govt in the Centre and Nitish in Bihar have mortgaged the state to be in power,” he added.
CPI (ML) state secretary Kumal criticised the Centre for ignoring farmers and youths in the budget. “It is being said that Bihar has been given a lot in the Budget. But the fact is that all the projects are focussed towards the construction of highway, which have been planned keeping in mind Narendra Modi’s corporate friends. These projects will neither give any benefit to the people, nor provide employment,” said Kunal.
