Opposition Criticizes Government for Delay in Meeting on Law and Order | Patna News – Times of India

Oppn hits out at govt over delay in meet

Patna: RJD and its allies hit out at the govt for delay in calling the meeting to review law and order situation in the state. They claimed that it is under their pressure that chief minister Nitish Kumar held the meeting on Friday, a day before statewide protests called by the INDI Alliance. However, JD(U) rubbished the allegations stating that the CM was keeping tabs on the situation and the meeting was a routine affair.
RJD state spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav questioned the delay in calling the meeting to discuss law and order situation.“CM Nitish has become tired. He called the meeting after pushing the state in trouble. In fact, he was sleeping and has been woken up by some of his disciples,” said Yadav, adding the morale of police has plummeted and senior police officials were not being heard by the govt. “The state is being run by retired officials,” he alleged.
Another RJD leader Ejaz Ahmad questioned the absence of both the deputy CMs in the meeting.
Congress media cell chairman Rajesh Rathorre said the meeting was called under pressure of the opposition. “Ruling JD(U) and BJP had been ignoring this crucial issue. It is a fact that CM Nitish was sleeping and he woke up a day before we had planned to carry out statewide protests over law and order situation in Bihar,” said Rathorre.
However, JD(U) state spokesperson Anjum Ara rubbished the claim being made by the opposition.
“It is not for the first time that Nitish has called a review meeting. Since 2005, he has been holding such review meetings and going on yatras to know the ground realities and accordingly giving instructions and making policies. This is his style of functioning, unlike some princes who sit in their air-conditioned chambers and enjoy foreign trips, and then spend time among people,” said Ara.
