Online permissions for Ganpati pandals in Mumbai from August 6 | Mumbai News – Times of India
Mumbai: The BMC will begin the process of issuing online permissions to Ganpati mandals in the city from Aug 6, it said on Thursday. A fee of Rs 100 will be charged for pandal construction.
This year, Ganpati celebrations begin on Sept 7.
BMC also said that in accordance with the decision of Maharashtra govt, the Ganeshotsav mandals which have been following the govt rules and laws for the last 10 years will be given permission for five consecutive years from this year’s Ganeshotsav.
For this, the groups celebrating Ganeshotsav at public or private places will have to submit a self-declaration that they have followed all the rules and laws in the last ten years and there is no complaint against them. However, the permit will need to be renewed every year.
“The applications received through the one-window scheme will be scrutinised by the ward office, after which a ‘no objection certificate’ from the local police station and traffic police department will be obtained online, and permission will be given for the pandal. Meanwhile, the mandals that have obtained permission on private land will be required to obtain a no-objection certificate from the landowner or society, as well as permission from the traffic police and local police.
Public Ganeshotsav Mandals can apply online (BMC website) for setting up the mandaps. This year, 1,237 applications were received from sculptors, according to BMC.
