Patna: With one more person testing positive for Covid-19 in Patna, the total number of cases increased to seven in the last 48 hours. The new infection was reported at AIIMS-Patna on Wednesday.Earlier, two doctors and two female nurses at AIIMS-Patna tested positive after experiencing symptoms like cold, cough, fever and body ache. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, head of the cardiothoracic department of AIIMS-Patna, confirmed the new case reported on Wednesday.“The infection is a sub-variant of Omicron. The patients who have come in so far are experiencing mild symptoms like fever, cough and cold. It will continue to circulate but isn’t very serious. It won’t even become endemic. The infection spreads through droplets and spreads more quickly. People recover from the infection in five days,” he said, adding that they have a reserve Covid ward with 30 beds that can be activated when necessary.Dr Rashmi Prasad, superintendent of NMCH-Patna, said random RTPCR testing is being done for patients who come with flu symptoms or prolonged illness. “On May 27, two patients tested positive with mild symptoms of cough and cold out of 14 collected samples. At least 16 samples were tested on Wednesday and all of them were negative,” she said.Of the two found positive, one is from Bhagwat Nagar and another from Fatuha. The patient from Bhagwat Nagar came for treatment to the medicine department, while the patient from Fatuha came for treatment to the ophthalmology (eye) department.
