One electrocuted 4 injured while removing DMK flagpole in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: One individual was electrocuted, and four others suffered shock injuries while attempting to dismantle a party flagpole.
This incident took place on Monday morning in Kethanaickenpatty, near Uthangarai in the Krishnagiri district.
The victim has been identified as K Ramamoorthi, 53, from Kethanaickenpatty village.
Recently, the Madras High Court instructed the state government to remove all party flagpoles located near highways. In response, DMK general secretary Durai Murugan urged party members to take down the poles and report back to the party headquarters.
Following this directive, five DMK members from Kethanaickenpatty tried to take down a 20-foot flagpole around 8:40 am on Monday. A police official from the Singarapettai police station stated, “The pole accidentally came into contact with live electrical wires.” The five individuals—Ramamoorthi, Perumal, 49, Sakkarai, 60, Arumugam, 58, and Boopalan, 50—sustained shock injuries.
Villagers quickly transported them to the government hospital in Uthangarai for medical attention. Unfortunately, Ramamoorthi died from his injuries before reaching the hospital, while the others were admitted for treatment, with their conditions reported as unstable.
The Singarapettai police have opened a case and initiated an investigation.
