Patna: One person was arrested in connection with incidents of shooting that occurred late Friday night in two villages under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station area of Patna. Businessman Rajesh Kumar (38) was fatally shot at Sheikhpura village, while two brothers were injured in Piprahi village when miscreants on motorbikes opened fire on them.
City superintendent of police (east) Bharat Soni said two separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the case – one by the deceased’s family and another based on the statement of one of the injured, Shivam Kumar.” “One youth, Akashdeep, who is accused in both cases, was arrested on Saturday.We are continuing raids to arrest the other suspects. In the Sheikhpura village incident, two named suspects and 5-6 unidentified persons are involved. In the Piprahi village case, six suspects are named in the FIR. Since the villages are adjacent and the incidents occurred around the same time, we suspect the same group might be responsible,” Soni added.

He said Rajesh was a witness in an Arms Act case. “We suspect the shooting might be linked to this. Also, there was an old rivalry involving the deceased and two locals, Sonu and Mithu Kumar, who are also accused in the murder,” he said.
According to police, Shivam and Gajendra were undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ramkrishna Nagar. Before the shooting, around 10 miscreants on bikes had a scuffle with them around 10pm on Friday.
