On eve of birth anniv, Ambedkar knowledge centre opens in Kalyan | Mumbai News – The Times of India

KALYAN: The Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Knowledge Centre in Kalyan was inaugurated by state industries minister Uday Samant and social justice minister Sanjay Shirsath on Sunday, on the eve of the social reformer‘s birth anniversary.
The centre, built by Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation near its D ward office, showcases Dr Ambedkar’s life journey, his writings, contribution to social justice and role in drafting the Indian Constitution through multimedia displays. A special film and 3D holography show offer an immersive experience on Dr Ambedkar.
This is the only state-of-the-art knowledge centre in the country, said Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde. “It not only provides information, but also direct communication. Large digital screens have been installed where people can learn everything about Dr Ambedkar. Those who want to research his literature can avail the books and e-books at the library.”
The knowledge centre has been built in two phases. The first phase, which included a 12ft-tall statue of Dr Ambedkar on an 8ft-high pedestal, was opened last year.
