On 100th Day In Office, Cm Lists Achievements, Slams Naveen | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday slammed the former BJD govt led by Naveen Patnaik on his 100th day in office accusing it of stooping to a new low by using Lord Jagannath for votes. Listing his own achievements in past 100 days, Majhi said steps have been taken to fulfil all major promises.
Majhi said the Naveen govt’s downfall was a result of its arrogance and anti-people policies.“It didn’t even spare Lord Jagannath from exploiting for vote politics,” he said, indirectly referring to BJD’s showcasing of works for Puri heritage corridor project before elections.
Expressing confidence in realizing the vision of a prosperous Odisha by 2036, the CM said the foundation is being laid in the first five years. He emphasized the importance of a govt being for the people and by the people in a democracy, adding people were at the mercy of a few officers in the past govt.
Referring to the election promises, the CM said, “For us, our manifesto is our holy book.” He highlighted the govt’s efforts to address people’s grievances through direct interaction and public hearings. Listing his govt’s achievements, Majhi said by opening of all doors of Puri Jaganath temple, the govt had removed the barrier between govt and devotees.
The govt has taken steps to promote Odia identity, language, and pride, including the establishment of an Odia Asmita Bhawan Building and an Odia Translation Academy. He said increase in price for paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal and launch of CM-Kisan scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers were path-breaking initiatives.
The Subhadra scheme, aimed at economically empowering women, was another major highlight of the CM’s speech. He recited a poem about the scheme, saying, “Subhadra will bring joy, wipe away sorrow, and give happiness. Subhadra is our faith, bringing smiles to every woman’s face.” He discussed the govt’s achievements in various sectors, including health, education, rural development, social welfare, employment, sports, and industry.
Countering Majhi, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said BJP govt in 100 days has reached its height of arrogance.
“The law-and-order situation in the state has worsened. The same is proved from the brutal attack on an Army officer and his fiancée inside police station,” he said.
