OMC Profit: OMC records ₹4.7k cr profit in 2022-23: Odisha Mining Corporation leads in profit generation | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Ltd has clocked a profit of Rs 4,734 crore, the highest by any corporation during 2022-23 while Odisha Rural Housing and Development Corporation (ORHDC) Ltd made a loss of Rs 39.47 crore during the same period.
The information was provided by public enterprises minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in the assembly on Tuesday in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Sarada Prasad Pradhan on profit and loss made by various govt corporations in the past five years.
The other loss-making corporations of the state include the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) which has incurred a loss of Rs 17.98 crore during 2022-23, Rs 2.52 crore during 2021-22, Rs 10.54 crore during 2020-21 and Rs 9.06 crore during 2019-20.
OMC in the meantime continues to remain the highest profit-making corporation of the state. It has made a profit of Rs 9,076 crore during 2023-24, almost the double of the previous year. During 2021-22, OMC clocked a profit of Rs 2,731 crore.
Other entities such as Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) Ltd also continued to make profit in the past five years, as per the reply of the minister. During 2022-23, OBCC clocked a profit of Rs 114.30 crore, up from Rs 11.38 crore during 2021-22. Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has also made constant profit in the past years. During 2023-24, OTDC made a profit of Rs 6.8 crore during 2022-23, it has made a profit of Rs 6.73 crore and during 2021-22, it has made a profit of Rs 3.79 crore.
Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) Ltd also made significant profits in the past years. As per the reply of the minister, OPGC clocked a profit of Rs 481 crore during 2023-24, Rs 833 crore during 2022-23 and Rs 105 crore during 2021-22.
Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) also made profits in its operations in the past few years for the state. In 2023-24, the corporation recorded a profit of Rs 323 crore and in 2022-23, the profit was Rs 399 crore. However, during 2021-22, it incurred a loss of Rs 88 crore.
