Koraput: Joint secretary of NITI Aayog, K H Rejimon, along with Rayagada district collector Parul Patwari and other district-level officials, visited Shakata, a ‘PM Adarsh Gram’ (model village) under Muniguda block on Saturday. Shakata was declared a model village by PM Narendra Modi on Dec 15, 2024, during the celebration of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jayanti.
The delegation reviewed developmental activities undertaken by various departments and stressed that financial assistance from NITI Aayog could further accelerate progress. They also extended various forms of assistance to local beneficiaries during the visit. Shakata is home to around 35 households belonging to the PVTG Dongria Kondh. The villagers primarily sustain themselves through farming on hill slopes and collecting minor forest produce.TNN
