Bhubaneswar: Principal secretary, housing and urban development and commerce and transport, Usha Padhee, on Friday conducted a comprehensive inspection of urban development and transport initiatives in Keonjhar district.The inspection started at sponge colony in ward no. 9 of Keonjhar municipality, where residents were facing persistent waterlogging and drainage problems. Accompanied by senior officials and district administrators, Padhee assessed the situation, engaged with local residents, and promised immediate action to resolve their concerns.Padhee then visited the govt and municipal bus stands operated by the Odisha State Transport Corporation (OSTC). She evaluated passenger facilities and held discussions with OSTC management and regional transport authorities to improve services and address operational challenges.Later, Padhee chaired a review meeting with key district officials, including the district collector and project director of district urban development authority. The meeting focused on ongoing urban and transport projects, emphasising the need for expedited implementation.With the monsoon approaching, she directed officials to take immediate steps to address drainage and waterlogging issues across the district. “Our priority is to prevent any inconvenience to citizens during the rainy season,” Padhee said.
