Odisha’s Growth Potential Enhanced by Singapore Visit: CM Majhi | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Majhi concluded his four-day Singapore visit on Wednesday after an interaction with the Odia diaspora, stating that he successfully positioned Odisha as an emerging global investment destination. Multiple high-level meetings during the visit paved the way for international collaborations across key sectors, he said.
“As Odisha celebrated its ancient seafaring traders during Bali Yatra, I ventured to Singapore on what turned out to be a fruitful business mission,” Majhi told the Odia community in Singapore. More than 400 members of the Odia diaspora in Singapore attended the event. The CM also invited them to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in (Jan 8 to 10) and the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 (Jan 28 and 29), both to be held in Bhubaneswar.
Stating that his visit will open new avenues for Odisha’s growth journey, the CM said, “Meaningful discussions with industry leaders from sectors like chemicals, green energy and logistics have created potential collaboration opportunities.”
The Majhi-led delegation’s packed agenda included crucial meetings with industry leaders, focusing on sustainable development and technological advancement.
A meeting with Ecosoftt CEO Marcus Lim explored innovative water solutions for Odisha’s industrial and urban development. The team also engaged with AP Moller Maersk Group to discuss ship-recycling and port-based infrastructure development opportunities.
The delegation visited Suntec City Convention & Exhibition Centre, gaining insights for developing Odisha’s MICE industry. They also explored semiconductor sector opportunities at PEP Innovation Private Ltd, aiming to enhance the state’s electronics infrastructure. Majhi also visited PEP Innovation Centre, a leading semiconductor company in Singapore. The meeting also focused on strengthening port-based industrial infrastructure and logistics, including the development of container terminals and a multimodal logistics park (MMLP).
Afternoon sessions included meetings with representatives from JERA, IHI Corporation and Masan High Tech Materials Corporation, focusing on equipment manufacturing, green hydrogen and critical minerals sectors. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost the state’s economy.
Industries minister Sampad Chandra Swain emphasised the state’s commitment to improving infrastructure and skill development. “We are focused on sustainable growth, leveraging global expertise to drive innovation and economic progress,” he said.
“The visit strengthened Odisha’s position on the global stage, with the upcoming Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 expected to serve as a platform for materialising these international partnerships and investment opportunities,” a govt statement said.
