Bhubaneswar: Om Prakash Behera, an Odisha native, has secured 100 percentile in JEE Main. He appeared from Kota in Rajasthan, where he was preparing for the examination. Deputy chief minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo congratulated the topper and wished him luck. He was studying at a city school before moving to Kota.
He secured 100 percentile in Jan session of JEE Main. Hence, he did not appear for the second session in April. Om Prakash’s father, Kamala Kant Behera, a civil servant, was working in Odisha and later got posted in New Delhi. His mother, Smita Rani Behera, a govt college teacher, took a break from her job to stay with her son in Kota for JEE preparation. “My mother came with me to Kota by taking a break from her govt job. She has been with me during the last three years. Father visits me whenever he gets an off-day. They supported me a lot in my three-year journey,” said Om Prakash.TNN
The topper said he stayed away from mobile phones and social media during exam preparation. “I learnt a lot from my mistakes. Now I am focusing on JEE Advanced. I will take a call on my future path after the important exam,” he added.
He came to Kota in Class X. He was taking help from a coaching institute there for preparation. “We should focus on the exam instead of rank. I am strong in mathematics and physics. I was giving equal time to all subjects. We must give enough time to each subject for better performance,” he added.
He further said that the sleep schedule should not be disturbed much. “The mind should be fresh on the day of the exam. Mock tests helped me a lot,” he added.
