Bhubaneswar: Odisha cadre IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh was appointed as the new IG of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Saturday.
Ministry of home affairs has issued a notification in this regard stating that Singh will remain in charge for a period of five years from the date of assuming the post.
“It is requested that Ashish Kumar Singh, IPS, may be relieved immediately to enable him to take up his new assignment at the Centre,” read the notification.
The 2004-batch IPS officer was dragged into controversy for allegedly interfering in the election process. Singh, who was then IG (central range), was removed from the post by the Election Commission after a BJP delegation made a complaint against him. He was then reposted as IG (CM’s security). In July, he was removed from the post again and was deputed as officer on special duty with the home department.TNN
