Odisha govt organises 'Subhadra Swagat padayatra' in 10,000 places

NEW DELHI: The Odisha government launched the ‘Subhadra Swagat‘ padayatra on Sunday throughout the state to raise awareness about the upcoming ‘Subhadra’ scheme.
Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida, in charge of Women and Child Development, initiated the padayatra in Bhubaneswar. The aim is to inform women about the Subhadra Yojana and to welcome the scheme at the village level.
The padayatras are being organized in every gram panchayat with guidance from the gram panchayat level federation leaders. Parida opened the event in Bhubaneswar, joined by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and Mission Shakti Secretary Shalini Pandit. Participants started from Giri Durga Temple and ended at Rama Devi Women’s University.
The Mission Shakti Department and Women and Child Welfare Department conducted the event in 10,000 locations on Sunday.
According to Parida, around 60 lakh women have registered for the Subhadra scheme. Those completing registration by September 15 will receive the first instalment on September 17, coinciding with the scheme’s launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “All eligible beneficiaries will be covered under the scheme,” Parida stated.
The Subhadra Yojana will provide financial assistance to at least 1 crore women. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, with Rs 10,000 distributed in two instalments annually.
