Govt releases 3rd phase of Subhadra scheme’s 1st instalment

Bhubaneswar: State govt on Sunday disbursed the first instalment of Rs 5,000 each to over 20 lakh women under the Subhadra Yojana at an event in Sundargarh.
Chief minister Mohan Majhi announced the transfer of over Rs 1,000 crore under the scheme, aimed at empowering women.
After the third phase of disbursal of the first instalment, a total of 80 lakh women have been covered under the scheme so far, while the govt has set a target to cover over 1 crore women by Dec.
“Over 1 crore mothers and sisters will benefit from the Subhadra scheme, making it the largest public welfare initiative in our state. The previous govt extensively promoted Mission Shakti, under which interest-free loans were provided. However, under the Subhadra scheme, we are directly providing financial assistance to our sisters,” Majhi said.
In Sundargarh district, over 4,59,000 women have registered under the Subhadra scheme, with more than 3,37,000 receiving the first instalment in the third phase.
Majhi also inaugurated 988 projects worth Rs 1,282 crore for Sundargarh district. For the district’s development, he inaugurated 692 projects at an investment of Rs 808.3 crore. Additionally, he laid the foundation for 288 projects at an investment of Rs 312.3 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram said the state govt is committed to working for the development of women.
Deputy CM Pravati Parida said there was unprecedented enthusiasm among women for the Subhadra scheme, with over 1 crore women digitising documents from their homes. She also thanked the Asha workers and self-help groups for assisting in this effort.
Panchayati raj and drinking water minister Ravi Naik, Raghunathpali MLA Durga Tanti, and women and chld development secretary Subha Sarma were also present on the occasion.
