Odisha Government Empowers Women Farmers with Backyard Poultry Initiative | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Deputy chief minister K V Singh Deo on Wednesday said the govt will help more women farmers adopt backyard poultry and earn a passive income.
He assured the organisations that help women farmers to excel in backyard poultry and asked them to implement a new model for backyard poultry on a pilot basis across the state. Singh Deo, inaugurating the ‘Hatching Hope for Economic Sustainability of Smallholders Farmers’ event organised by Passing Gifts, a subsidiary of Heifer International, commended the increasing participation of women in agriculture, viewing it as a promising trend for the state’s development.
He said the state govt is committed to supporting organisations that drive the socio-economic empowerment of women farmers. He suggested the organisation collaborate with all 30 district administrations in Odisha to extend the reach of its innovative Backyard Poultry Model, an initiative designed to empower rural women through sustainable poultry farming.TNN
