Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Majhi said the new govt aims to honour Harekrushna Mahatab, Odisha’s first CM, and other luminaries appropriately, breaking the trend of recognising only a select few contributions. “As part of this, a year-long national celebration of Mahatab’s 125th birth anniversary was initiated,” he said.
“Imagining modern Odisha without Mahatab is impossible,” said the CM, addressing the 125th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatab here on Saturday. A biopic on the eventful life of Mahatab will be made, he said.
Efforts will continue to bring the forgotten achievements of Odisha’s great sons, such as Madho Singh and Pandit Godabarish Mishra, into public consciousness through initiatives like scholarships and model school programmes in their names. Mahatab’s legacy will be preserved and celebrated for generations, Majhi said.TNN
