Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi’s Singapore Visit: A Strategic Move to Enhance Foreign Investments | Bhubaneswar News
BHUBANESWAR: In a significant move to boost foreign investment, Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to embark on his first international visit to Singapore from November 17-20, coinciding with the state’s traditional Bali Yatra festival that celebrates Odisha’s past maritime trade glory.
Leading a high-level delegation, CM Majhi aims to showcase Odisha’s investment potential and strengthen economic ties with the city-state. The visit comes ahead of the state’s flagship investors summit, Utkarsh Odisha 2025.
“This international outreach will present our state on a global platform. We are keen to showcase vast opportunities across sectors and our readiness to welcome foreign investments,” CM Majhi said.
The delegation’s packed schedule includes meetings with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, visits to industrial facilities like the Jurong Petrochemicals Region and Tuas Port, and interactive sessions with potential investors.
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who is part of the delegation, emphasized that the visit focuses on learning from Singapore’s advanced industrial practices, particularly in technology, manufacturing, and skill development.
A government statement outlined key objectives including highlighting Odisha’s three operational ports at Dhamra, Paradip, and Gopalpur, showcasing export potential, and inviting Singaporean investors to participate in Utkarsh Odisha 2025.
The delegation will also organize a roadshow titled “Business Opportunities in Odisha” and engage with the Odia diaspora to strengthen cultural and economic bonds.
“Through this visit, we aim to forge meaningful partnerships with industry leaders and government delegates. I am confident this will attract significant investments and position Odisha as a preferred investment destination,” the CM added.
The visit marks the Majhi administration’s first step in global outreach, demonstrating the state’s commitment to industrial growth and sustainable investments.
As Odisha positions itself as an emerging industrial hub, this diplomatic initiative is expected to pave the way for future international collaborations and investments.
