Majhi also met Vivek Agarwal, director, Visa Group Limited, and requested him to expand capacity, increase value-added products, and create more employment opportunities in the state in the steel and ferro-chrome sectors.
“This is my first foreign visit as chief minister, and we chose Singapore for the Odisha Business Meet due to its thriving industrial ecosystem and innovative practices. India and Singapore share strong economic, strategic and cultural ties, and Odisha is poised to enhance this partnership. My govt is committed to providing full facilitation for investors, offering opportunities in sectors like handloom, seafood, and skilled workers. Over the next three days, I will meet with potential investors to foster growth and collaboration,” Majhi said in a statement.
Shilpak Ambule, Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, coordinated the meetings and highlighted the role of states like Odisha in further strengthening bilateral relationship, especially in sectors like chemicals and petrochemicals, renewable energy, green fuels and skilling.
The delegation met Rabin Jhunjhunwala, chairman of Orind Singapore Pte Ltd, who is looking to invest in the bio-fertilizers sector. Majhi encouraged Jhunjhunwala to set up the facility in Odisha and assured all necessary support from his govt.
