Odisha: 9 hospitalised after suspected gas leak at Rourkela Steel Plant | Bhubaneswar News
BHUBANESWAR: As many as nine people were hospitalised following a suspected gas leak incident at Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha on Monday.
As per the inititial reports, the leak was reported in a blast furnance of the plant.
A Rourkela Steel Plant spokesperson said that nine persons, including three officials and six contract employees felt unwell while working in the blast furnace number 5 after coming in contact with some gas.
A woman contract employee was taken the hospital inside the plant premises and the other eight were taken to Ispat General Hospital of which four are in ICU.
An enquiry committee has been formed by the steel plant management to ascertain the cause behind the incident and fix responsibility..
