Chennai: A Mahila Court on Wednesday awarded a migrant worker from Odisha life sentence for raping a minor girl in Ennore.
The judge found the suspect, Rajkumar Nayak, 28, guilty of raping the child when she was alone at her house in Ennore in November 2019. The court also imposed a fine of 1 lakh, which should be handed over to the victim.
Based on the complaint from the girl’s parents, the all-women police registered a case and arrested Rajkumar Nayak, who was staying in a rented house and employed at a construction firm. The police had filed the final report before the special court in Tiruvallur. TNN
