Odia Film Legends to Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards |
Bhubaneswar: Noted writer, director, and playwright Anant Mohapatra, cinematographer Srinivas Mohapatra, and veteran actor Jayiram Samal will receive the prestigious Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Award for their lifetime contribution to Odia films for 2020, 2021, and 2022, respectively, said Odia language, literature, and culture minister Suryabanshi Suraj while announcing the state film awards in 32 categories for three years, on Thursday. The lifetime contribution award includes a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a citation.
In the best film category, ‘Saheed Raghu Sardar’ was selected for 2020, while ‘Pratiksha’ and ‘Dalchini’ jointly won the award for 2021, and the acclaimed ‘Daman’ won the award for 2022. In the best director category, Rakesh Samal was selected for ‘Rakesh Raja’ in 2020, Suresh Patnaik for ‘Trushna’ in 2021, and Sudhansu Mohan Sahu for ‘Mayabi’ in 2022.
Debashis Patra was selected for the best actor (male) award for ‘Saheed Raghu Sardar’. Ankit Kumar and Dipanwit Das Mohapatra were selected for ‘Bhoka’ and ‘Pratiksha’, while Babushan Mohanty was named best actor for ‘Daman’. For the best actor (female) award, Kavya Keeran Shukla, Suryamayee Mohapatra, and Lopamudra Mishra were selected for three years, respectively.
The Balakrushna Dash award for best music director went to Baidyanath Das, Abhijeet Mojumdar, and Pankaj Jal. The best cinematographer award went to Niranjan Dash and Rajesh Jogi for 2020, Deepak Kumar Ghadai for 2021, and Pratap Rout for 2022.
The documentary films ‘Mask’ and ‘The Healing Touch’, directed by Sweta Kumar Dash, were selected as the best documentary films for 2020 and 2021, while ‘The Mountain Hockey’ was selected for 2021, and ‘Manayu-My Wonder Land’ will receive the award for 2022.
The best tribal film award went to ‘Dewa’ in Koya language for 2022, while no films were awarded for 2020 and 2021. The best educational film for 2021 went to ‘The Wings’.
