OBC wing of BJP urges govt for implementation of 27% of OBC quota | Bhubaneswar News
BHUBANESWAR: OBC Morcha of BJP Odisha on Thursday met chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi here and urged him to implement the 27 percent reservation rule for OBC people of Odisha.
Surath Biswal, state president of the BJP OBC Morcha, said Odisha has a sizable OBC population but they do not get 27 percent in education or employment sector. He also said the previous govt had not given a reservation of 11.25 percent to OBC people in the employment sector.
He said reservation for OBC candidates should be given in panchayat and urban local body elections. A separate OBC development department should be created in the state to look after the welfare of OBC people.
“There was an OBC Finance Development Corporation was there to provide loan and skill development training to OBC youths. But it is lying defunct since 2008. It should be revived,” said Biswal.
