Oath-Taking: Galaxy of VVIPs attend oath-taking of first BJP government in Odisha | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The oath-taking ceremony of first BJP chief minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, and his council of ministers was a VVIP-filled affair as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh and chief ministers of at least 10 BJP-governed 10 states witnessed and celebrated the occasion.
Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Vishnu Deo Sai and Mohan Yadav, respectively, were the first to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport here around 12 noon with the rest following one after another in quick succession in chartered flights.The scene at the airport was no less than a festival with people and cavalcades filling the area.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Tripura CM Manik Saha, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also arrived at the airport amid tight security. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and his Goa counterpart Pramod Sawant also arrived in the city to attend the ceremony. A massive security entourage was put in place to escort the CMs to the venue.
“We had promised the BJP will form the govt in Odisha. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said a young and healthy Odia will take oath as Odisha CM and today it became a reality,” said MP CM Yadav.
Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram and Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari were also among the VVIPs who attended the event.
Assam CM Sarma, whose campaigning in the state had energised BJP workers, went to Puri to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath. “We will try to implement all that we had promised in the manifesto, including opening of the four gates of Jagannath Temple. Also, we will get to the truth of missing keys of Ratna Bhandar,” he told the media in Puri.
With at least 13 VVIPS arrived here in separate non-scheduled aircraft, the airport authorities on Wednesday denied landing to at least three private chartered flights. There was no movement of any non-scheduled flights other than that of VVIPS till the swearing-in ceremony was over and the VVIPs returned.
