Mumbai: An NRI author from Austria has lodged a police complaint against a 27-year-old woman for cheating her of Rs 41 lakh. Oshiwara police have registered an FIR. The complainant got acquainted with the accused in 2023. The accused claimed she was a doctor and carried out research projects at major hospitals. She offered the complainant returns of Rs 2.4 lakh every four months if she invested in her research projects. She also offered to refund the principal amount in 28 months. After making a written agreement, the author invested Rs 41 lakh between April 2023 and Jan 2025. She received Rs 22.56 lakh as returns after which the accused disappeared.
