‘Not just one community’s leader’: LJP hints at Chirag Paswan contesting Bihar assembly polls from general seat | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: The possibility of union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan contesting the assembly elections in Bihar gathered further momentum on Sunday with the party suggesting the leader to contest from “general seat”, instead of reserve seat.Chirag has, so far, contested Lok Sabha elections from only reserved seats such as Jamui and Hajipur but has not tried luck in the assembly elections.“The general sentiment of the party workers is that Chirag Paswan should contest assembly elections from a general, and not reserved seat,” party’s Bihar in-charge and Jamui MP Arun Bharti wrote in a X post on Sunday, explaining he is the “hope of the entire Bihar, not just one community.”“When the leader is from entire Bihar, then why should the scope of the seat be limited?” he asked adding that the party workers and the people of the state want him to “play a bigger role.”“Chirag today is not just a representative but the hope of the whole of Bihar,” Bharti wrote further which experts interpret as the party’s subtle move to project him as the CM candidate amid the present CM Nitish Kumar reaching the “fag end” of his career and the opposition frequently alleging that he is “not fit to run the state”.
