‘No one will be spared …. ‘: CM Eknath Shinde assures strict action against guilty in BMW hit-and-run case | Mumbai News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde assured strict action against those guilty in a fatal BMW accident involving a Shiv Sena leader‘s son, while also announcing Rs 10 lakh aid for the victim’s family.
Amidst this pledge, he emphasized that nobody would be spared, regardless of their affiliations.
“Whoever is guilty will not be spared; strict action will be taken against them,” Shinde told reporters in Mumbai.
“We stand by the family of the victim. We will provide legal and financial support to the aggrieved family. We will give them Rs 10 lakh from the CM’s Relief Fund. They are from our family,” he added.
The main accused in the case Mihir Shah was produced before the Sewri court on Wednesday. He was arrested following a 60-hour hunt by the Mumbai police.
The incident, which took place in Worli, south-central Mumbai, involved a BMW driven by Mihir Shah that allegedly collided with a two-wheeler.
The crash led to the tragic death of Kaveri Nakhwa, who was riding pillion, while her husband, Pradeep, sustained injuries.
Police reports indicated that Nakhwa was dragged for about 1.5 kilometers by the speeding vehicle before Mihir Shah stopped the car, switched seats with his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, and fled in another vehicle. In the process, Rajrishi Bidawat allegedly ran over her while reversing the BMW.
Mihir Shah was taken into custody on Tuesday. Authorities revealed that Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena politician from Palghar district and Mihir’s father, played an active role in facilitating Mihir’s escape post-crash. Rajesh Shah, who is on bail, was dismissed from his deputy leader position in the Shiv Sena on Wednesday.
Responding to queries about the delayed dismissal of Rajesh Shah, Shinde said, “Should sacking him from the party be given priority or taking action against the accused or providing support to the family? The government will not support anyone. Action has been taken in this case.”
